Signal lamps

Our product range includes type SSV 136 main signal lamps (136 mm diameter), type SSV 70 shunt signal lamps (70 mm diameter) and type SSV 210 or 300 level crossing road signal lamps (210 or 300 mm diameter), based either on the existing or on new technology (bulb filament / LED) and including the appropriate modifications for the signalling system of the Slovenian Railways.

As a manufacturer of signal lamps, we are committed to the ongoing development of new technologies in this field and supplying spare parts for maintenance and repair. As part of our service commitment we also specialise in the refurbishment of signal lamps.

Refurbishment of signal lamps

First we disassemble the signal lamp and then clean and repaint it with the standard SSV colour. We replace the most important parts of the lamp, such as the lamp socket, the seals and the fasteners. Other parts, such as the condenser, the colour filters, the diffusing glass and housing parts are usually only cleaned. If they are no longer usable, we replace them with new original parts from our own production. We only use certified genuine spare parts for refurbished signal lamps. After re-assembly, the lamp is calibrated and aligned in accordance with the relevant regulations and standards.

In most cases, the refurbishment process costs less than half that of a replacement.

All new type SSV 136 signal lamps are designed for speeds of up to 160 km/h. Based on the necessary certificates and original technical documentation, HESER has the exclusive right to manufacture and service type SSV signal lamps in their field of application. 

 

Main signals

With HESER, our customers can order complete signals, including a hot-dip galvanized signal head with a silumin cable terminator, a hot-dip galvanized signal post, a silumin signal cabinet equipped with rubber vibration dampers, stainless steel fasteners and a precast concrete foundation.

Signal gantries with one or more signal heads can be supplied by special order. Each signal gantry is unique and requires a static analysis of the foundation and the complete gantry structure. We also supply the required technical and other documents. The steel gantry structure is protected against corrosion by hot-dip galvanizing. All fasteners are made from stainless steel.

We also carry out restoration works on main signal and gantry foundations. Replacement signals are installed after completing a static analysis and obtaining the appropriate permits.

Foundations

In addition to main signal foundations we also supply concrete foundations for shunt signals, road traffic lights, telephone boxes and barrier drives. Individual foundation elements (cubes) are interconnected with studs protected with plastic caps. We have developed our own models for the foundations; these are based on a static analysis and the appropriate permits/certificates. 

 

Signal boards

We manufacture 1 and 2 aspect signal boards with a reflective surface. The mounting brackets are made of stainless steel and are designed for easy installation. The signal board mounting rack is suitable for all different signal post types. Our durable and maintenance free signal boards are equipped with a high quality reflective surface that is highly visible under any light condition (day or night).

 

Indicators

Our indicators consist of a stainless steel housing and feature an extremely light construction, a black paint coating and fibre optic technology, offering numerous advantages:

  • extremely good visibility at all distances,
  • easy installation and low-cost maintenance,
  • only two long life halogen lamps (main and standby) required,
  • low power consumption,
  • automatic switchover from main to standby lamp,
  • The light bulb can be installed up to 18 meters from the indicator housing (on bridges, in tunnels, on signal posts, gantries and in other hard to reach places). Another advantage of this solution is the easier and less dangerous light bulb change.
  • after a minor modification of the electromagnetic relay system, the indicator is also compatible with the older indicator type,
  • support for all types of indicators used by the railway due to fibre optic technology,
  • universal mounting solution for easy installation on any base, 
  • indicators with LED technology are currently in the development phase.

Shunt signals

The cast stainless silumin alloy housing is equipped with type SSV 70 signal lamps. The black painted housing is waterproof and is attached to a hinged base for easier alignment of the signal. The base is mounted on a standard precast concrete foundation and is fastened with foundation bolts. The bolts are protected against corrosion and the top nuts are fitted with plastic caps. The signal door is equipped with a latch and a standard lock.

Limit track signals

The signal housing is made from a hot galvanized metal structure, which prevents rust and corrosion and requires very little maintenance. The signal can be installed on all standard signal posts. The signal is equipped with type SSV 70 lamps (diameter 70 mm) installed in the closed cabinet. It features superior visibility, easy maintenance and a long life cycle. The signal housing is waterproof and has anti-fog ventilation. The front panel of the signal head is painted black and meets the requirements of the railway signalling regulations.

All three products are made from silumin and are waterproof. The mounting structure of the signal cabinet prevents the transmission of vibrations from the line to the electronics in the cabinet, which reduces the impact of vibration on the signal (signals reverting to stop).

The lower part of the signal cabinet provides space for a standard connection strip or an appropriate connector version for connecting the cable to the electronics.

The distribution box is equipped with a certified 10 pole connection strip which can be used for connecting the trackside equipment (point machines, switch-on sensors for level crossings, electric points heating, etc.). The signal head cable terminator is equipped with a built-in 21 pole connection strip.

The version with the 136 mm signal lamps and the 60 L or D diffuser glass is still available. Nowadays, we supply lamps from the traffic light program with a diameter of 210 mm or 300 mm in incandescent or LED technology. We deliver either individual lamps, complete signal heads including a high-quality bell or complete signals with a hot-dip galvanized post and a precast concrete foundation. We also offer precast concrete foundations for barrier drives of different manufacturers, including the appropriate certificate and static analysis.

Level crossings barrier arms

We manufacture standard as well as non-standard length barrier arms. Our level crossing barriers are light, made of aluminium and feature a special extruded square profile. Barrier arms are finished in standard red and white signal colours and are equipped with a breakaway insert, reflectors and LED lights.

Point indicators

The point indicator is made of an extremely light yet very strong aluminium casing. Our product range includes three different indicator versions: indicators with electric lighting, indicators with oil lighting and indicators with a reflective surface (highly visible even at night – the most commonly used version nowadays). The indicator is designed and constructed for easy use and maintenance.

To provide high quality at a low cost and ensure a long life cycle, the electric version is equipped with a built-in lamp socket, which enables the use of the standby filament of disused 30V-15/15W signal bulbs.

Temporary and ROBEL point locks

Temporary point locks are used to lock a set of points in case of emergency or a system malfunction. The temporary point lock has been developed locally as a result of many years of experience while also taking into account existing standards. We are also a supplier of standard (ROBEL) point locks.

   

  

Mechanical derailers

Our product range also includes a mechanical derailer that has been designed and built to comply with the standards of the Slovenian Railways as well as railways in neighbouring countries. The derailer can be operated either manually or electrically. The derailer head is made from cast steel and ensures a reliable derailment of even the heaviest vehicles.

Derailer indicators

Strong aluminium metal construction suitable for mounting on all types of point indicators. The derailer indicator is equipped with a blue and white reflective foil that is clearly visible day and night. Indicators with electric/oil lighting are also available.

End of track indicator

The end of track indicator is available in three different versions: with electric or oil lighting in a stainless steel housing or with a reflective surface that is highly visible under any light condition.

Trackside connection box

The trackside connection box is used for the installation of the electronics of axle counters, track contacts, track circuits, etc. The box is made of aluminium alloy. Its versatility allows it to be used for the installation of different devices.

Control and communication panels

We manufacture and install control panels for all types and sizes of interlockings and communication systems, including work tables and operator communication panels (LORENZ & ISKRA SISTEM, NEUMANN). We can also modify or upgrade existing control panels. We offer all types of Lorenz control panel sections from the catalogue or by special order.

Impedance & glued joint meter – ZM8

The meter is intended to measure the impedance of railway tracks (bed impedance) and determines the ability of the track bed to ensure the proper functioning of audio frequency track circuits, thus enabling the optimum adjustment and control of track circuits. Impedance measurements are made at 8 kHz. To ensure the minimum influence of external voltages on the measurement accuracy, measurements are frequency-selective. The meter is equipped with a potentiometer and a measurement function selector switch, enabling users to adjust all settings and perform all tests of the circuit in accordance with the appropriate calibration manual for audio frequency track circuits. The additional ZM-8S probe enables the measurement of glued joints and the troubleshooting of normal track circuits. Using the ZM-8S probe, users can selectively measure and track the 8 kHz currents through the rails in order to detect possible leaks. The meter is certified and has its own battery power source and battery charger.

MM-1 data acquisition system

The MM-1 data acquisition system is a modern microprocessor based measurement and recording device for capturing and analyzing data, enabling easy troubleshooting of railway signalling systems and providing helpful information for scheduled maintenance activities.

Calibration template for magnetic track contacts

The calibration template is fully compliant with the requirements for calibrating magnetic track contacts. It can also be equipped with a variety of indicators for additional calibration checks. The template is calibrated and certified.

Electromechanical interlocking with light signals - ROSP

The ROSP signalling device ensures the safety of railway traffic by using electromechanical locking in cases such as, for example:

  • replacement of mechanical signals with light signals,
  • temporary or permanent signalling at a station with electrical entry and distant signals,
  • temporary or permanent signalling at a siding with protective signals,
  • temporary (track repair work) or permanent signalling at a post on the open line.

In all versions, the electric light signals are equipped with a train protection device and points are equipped with mechanical locks (manual point position control). All systems are connected to a central key lock which supports the automatic reverting of signals to stop. ROSP is also equipped with an integrated MM-1 data acquisition system.

 

Auxiliary phone – SD1 wall board

The auxiliary phone is an inductive phone equipped with an uninterruptible power supply. It has been designed for use in emergencies, when all other means of communication within the railway network have failed. The auxiliary phone is an LB type phone with a 10-terminal switching field for LB lines. It can be installed in traffic control rooms, centralized traffic controls, transformer substations, etc. In the event of a power failure, the built-in battery provides 48 hours of normal use.

Surge protection

HESER and ISKRA ZAŠČITE have together developed a surge protection device system specially designed to meet the requirements of the railway. These surge protection devices are fully compatible with existing terminal blocks and connectors, thus facilitating an easy installation process. This high-quality surge protection has been tested and approved for the use with telecommunications systems by railways around the world (international certificate). Dictated by the increasingly rapid technological advancements of the railway, we are also involved in the development of new surge protection devices as well as surge protection devices manufactured on a one-off basis for signalling and telecommunications equipment of the railway.

For larger and more complex projects we will do our best to accommodate the needs of our customers as quickly as possible and of the highest quality. All our products have the appropriate certificates and permits for installation on the public transport infrastructure of the Slovenian Railways.
